Socalm is a born jamaican rapper. He started writing music at the age of nine and continued to write over the years growing up in Jamaica expressing his feelings and lifely struggles in all his lyrics. He moved to America at the age of 14 where he took a liking to rap music and started blending his Jamaican style with American hip hop. Over the next several years he continued to grow as a rapper and performer.
In 2009, while stationed in Korea, SoCalm met B.D.Smith who he began rapping with. In 2010, SoCalm was restationed thus splitting up the duo. However, the two remained friends and after B.D.Smith retired from rapping, he became SoCalm's producer. In 2011, the Army brought B.D.Smith back to the states.
While on leave, B.D.Smith and SoCalm met up and recorded SoCalm's first mix tape "Before the Storm". B.D.Smith was sent to Fort Riley, Kansas and SoCalm lived in NJ. The two would continue to do move, SoCalm would recording, then send to B.D.Smith to mix. B.D.Smith is now out of the Army and home in Pa, the two continue their online music friendship.
